ARMOR SHIELD (GLASS PROTECTION + SAFETY FILM)

Glass Safety, Heat Reduction, Bullet Proof & Explosion Resistance:

Benefits:
- Armorshield safety films clearly protect from glass related injuries (shattering, spall, fragmenting).
- Strenghten glass up to 4 times.
- Prevent broken glass pieces to scatter.
- Prevent injury cause by glass fragments.
- Risk control - minimize accidental damage
- Can be applied to glass on-site without the need to remove the glass from frame.
- ArmorShield is a good alternative to prison-like iron bars and grills.
- Offer excellent protection against smash and grab robberies, vandalism, and forcible entries.
- Reduces solar energy and rejects 5% ultraviolet rays.
- Offers 10 years warranty against peeling, shrinking, cracking, yellowing, and crazing.

The use of glass in construction has increased rapidly in recent decades, especially so in several components of exterior and interior architecture.

With this development, safety and security aspect concerning glass has become a serious consideration in the design and construction of building.

Frequently Asked Questions (Technical):
Q1. Visible Light Transmission (VLT)?
Answer:The percentage amount of visible light that passes through the glass or film. Lesser light will be transmitted when the number is low.
Q2. Glare Reduction?
Answer:The decrease percentage when there is a difficulty seeing in the presence of bright light.
Q3. Visible Light Reflection?
Answer:The total percentage of light that is reflected by the window film or glass.
Q4: Ultraviolet Radiation (UV)?
Answer:Ultraviolet are invisible rays that part of the energy comes from the sun. UV rays can burn materials that undergo too much exposure to the sun.
Q5. Shading Coefficient (SC)?
Answer:The ratio of solar heat passing through a film to the solar energy gained that occurs if glasses are not protected. Lower number will result in better solar shading qualities.
Q6. Solar Heat Gained Coefficient (SHGC)?
Answer:Solar Heat Gained Coefficient measures how well a product blocks heat from the sun. Lower SGHC the better it is at blocking heat gain.
Q7. Total solar energy reflected?
Answer:The total percentage amount of solar energy directly reflected by the film. Lesser solar energy is reflected when the number is low.
Q8. Total solar energy absorbed?
Answer:The total percentage amount of solar energy directly absorbed by the film. Lesser solar energy is absorbed when the number is low.
Q9: Total solar energy rejected?
Answer:The total percentage amount of solar energy directly rejected by the film. Lesser solar energy is absorbed when the number is low.
Q10. Tensile strength
Answer:Tensile strength measures the maximum amount of stress that the glass can take before breaking. ArmorShield film has a tensile strength of 33,175 glass pounds per square inch.
Q11. Break strength
Answer:Break strength measures the force which is required to break the glass. ArmorShield film has a break strength of 136 pounds of force per inch width.
Q12: Peel Strength
Answer:Peel strength measures the average force to part two bonded materials like the glass and plastic films. ArmorShield film has a peel strength of 3200 grams per inch width.
Q13.Puncture Strength
Answer: Puncture strength measure a compression used on the film until an elongation limit is achieved. ArmorShield film has puncture strength of 74 grams of force per square inch.
Q14.Elongation at break
Answer:Elongation at break is the amount of stretch a film underwent before the breaking point. ArmorShield film has an elongation at break of 166%.

Frequently Asked Question (General):
Q1. Is ArmorShield difficult to apply?
Answer:It is mandatory that ArmorShield Safety Films be applied either by machine in the factory and trained certified professional ArmorShield Installation Technician using ArmorShield tools and chemicals to assure best results; with proper techniques on site, excellent results are constantly obtained.
Q2. Is ArmorShield expensive?
Ans: No! ArmorShield Coated Glass compares favourably with Tempered and Laminated Glass which does not offer the protective qualities of ArmorShield.
Q3. Why is ArmorShield Films offered in various thickness?
Answer:ArmorShield Safety Films are available in 4mil, 7mil and 11mil thickness providing users with various levels of protection options, based on intended usage. For the vast majority of situations ArmorShield recommends our 4mil (Code 1) film to achieve the  best results at the most economical price. Code 2 and 3 ArmorShield Safety Films provides even greater security, in total compliance with Class A, BS6206 and Section 16 C.F.R Part 1201-1984.
Q4. Does Armorshield Films burn? Is it toxic or gaseous?
Answer:No! ArmorShield Safety Films does not support combustion and is classified as self-extinguishing. However, it is not “fire-rated”. It will begin to melt at approximately 237 Degree Celsius. While windows treated with ArmorShield Safety Films prevent glass from collapsing under fire conditions, extended exposure to extreme heat will eventually cause deterioration. ArmorShield Safety Films has been tested and found to be non-toxic or non-gaseous when exposed to direct flame. Additionally, ArmorShield coated surfaces will not explode sending dangerous shards of glass in all directions. It reacts much like wired glass (it lasts 10 to 13 times longer than untreated glass). Armorshield has been tested using an acetylene torch at 6000 Degrees Fahrenheit (3315 Degrees Celsius) on 6mm plate glass with the following results:
  • Untreated 6mm plate glass cracked and exploded in 23 seconds.
  • ArmorShield Organic Coated 6mm plate glass cracked and melted at 3 minutes, 55 seconds; burned a round hold; did not shatter or explode.

Q5. How long will ArmorShield Films last without discolouring, cracking or peeling?
Answer: Armorshield Safety Film, upon appropriate installation, will not crack, peel, haze or discolour for at least ten years. That’s why we provide the industry with a ten-year warranty. Extensive testing leads us to believe there will be no appreciable reduction in the product’s performance for many years more.
Q6. Will ArmorShield Safety Films scratch?
Answer:It provides a certain level of scratch resistance. Unlike other optically clear and tinted window coatings, ArmorShield Safety Films has a special anti-abrasive coating which provides a hard, scratch, resistance surface called “Tuff Coat”. Normal cleaning with standard glass cleaners will not scratch ArmorShield Safety Films. We do caution against the use of all-purpose cleaner. The use of alcohol or straight ammonia on ArmorShield Saety Films is not recommended over the long time because it seeps underneath the ArmorShield Safety Film and may deteriorate the mounting adhesive.
Q7. Is ArmorShield Coated Glass bullet-resistant?
Ans: ArmorShield Safety Film, when used as a customized system does provide ballistic resistance capability. We went through several ballistic tests to substantiate our claims. In a normal configuration, ArmorShield Safety Flims prevent deadly spalling of glass. The treated glass totally retained its integrity. In other words, it will not collapse or disintegrate.
Q8. Can ArmorShield be applied to the outside of windows?
Answer:Yes! ArmorShield Safety Films may be installed on exterior as well as interior surfaces. Usually, however, ArmorShield is installed on interior surfaces. Applying ArmorShield on both surfaces offers much higher level of protection.
Q9. How strong is ArmorShield? Does it rip, tear, cut, break or peel?
Answer:Extensive testing had been conducted on polyester coating in several countries. These tests have conclusively demonstrated that our safety films are strong enough to prevent glass from shattering from the following external forces:
Explosive: Plastic Explosives, Dynamite, Fragmentation Grenades, Pipe Bombs
Thrown Objects: Rocks, Fire Bombs, Bricks, Baseballs, and Bottles.
Physical Attacks: Axe Handles, Baseball Bats, Pipes, Hammers, Boards.
Q10. Will ArmorShield Coatings shrink?
Ans: No! During the manufacturing process, all ArmorShield Coatings are pre-shrunk. This precludes “Gapping” when seaming on glass surfaces.
